During the June-July school holidays, 52 Hope Scholars Programme (HSP) grade 8 learners (from both Zisukhanyo and Sophumelela) went on an educational camp to the False Bay Ecology Park, Zeekoevlei Nature Reserve (working with CTEET).  The aim of the camp was not only to strengthen the relationship between HSP learners and HSP staff, but also to build trust between HSP and the parents of the learners.  Six HSP alumni also joined in on the weekend festivities.

The duration of the camp was three days (10-12 July) and included various educational, environmental, team building and character building activities.  Activities included nature walks, petting a snake, chameleon and tortoise, life skills session (health and safety), a mathematics test and a talent show!  Highlights  also included reflection sessions, where the learners had a chance to share with how SAEP and HSP have helped them and their families in the past six months.

The learners, alumni and staff thoroughly enjoyed the camp and took it back home as a positive experience.
