SAEP Partnership with 
Mountain Club of South Africa 

During the first six months of 2003, SAEP has developed a strong partnership with the Mountain Club of South Africa to take SAEP's "gap year" interns and learners from Sinethemba and other high schools in the Cape Flats on a strenuous series of climbs on Table Mountain.  There has been one SAEP/MCSA hike per month -- each involving 15-20 participants -- since the first hike on February 23, 2003. 

These excursion serve not only to introduce the participants to the treasures of the Cape fynbos vegetation and the beauty of the Cape Peninsula, but also to develop physical fitness and a spirit of outdoor adventure and teamwork in these climbs.
