Introduction.
The wetlands in Philippi are widely used as dumps for both domestic waste and building rubble (see pictures 1-4 below). In September 2000 an ongoing SAEP initiative was set up in collaboration with students of Sinethemba Secondary School and members of the Philippi community to clean up one of the wetland areas near Sinethemba S.S.. This report uses primarily pictures to tell the story.
