Gladys Nobatana
Social Worker

Gladys is SAEP's first full-time social worker and brings a wealth of expertise and experience with her. Gladys holds a BA in Psychology from UWC with Honours in Psychology and Development Studies and earned her qualification as a social worker through UNISA. She has completed coursework towards a Masters in Child and Family Studies at UWC.
Our social worker has previously worked with the Homestead Street Children Shelter, the Child Welfare Society, and with Big Brothers Big Sisters, a mentoring organisation. Most recently, Gladys worked at the Philani Nutritional Centre in Khayelitsha, where she mainly helped the caregivers of orphans and vulnerable children navigate government bureaucracy to obtain IDs and registration and enrol for the Child Support Grant and Foster Care Grant.
As SAEP's social worker, Gladys will be doing group counselling and one-on-one casework with our Hope Scholars, Bridging Year interns, Tertiary Support students, and Early Childhood Development parents and principals.

During my Bridging Year at SAEP, I changed as a person. I gained leadership skills and confidence and I changed from being an introvert to an extrovert.
