SAEP is very proud to announce that Simphiwe Dasi, a 2008 Bridging Year intern, has been hired full-time by ADT Security. In November he will take on the role of Junior IT Tutor on the ADT Teach Cape Town project. Simphiwe, who matriculated under the old national curriculum, rewrote his matric exams in March. After an outstanding performance on his exams - improving at least one symbol in every subject and three symbols in math! - he was able to spend the remainder of the year focusing on his community service for SAEP. He dutifully filled the Junior Tutor position on a volunteer basis, and will now begin a career at ADT under the guidance of the Senior IT Tutor, Avuyile Koli. The scope of ADT Teach Cape Town will significantly expand next year with the addition of a new cohort of Grade 10 learners, so Patrick and Avuyile will need all the help they can get!

For the past two years, ADT has been a generous supporter of SAEP's Bridging Year Programme, and we are proud to have one of our graduates joining their ranks. Success stories like Simphiwe's are the greatest reward for strong corporate social investment, and they make it all worth it for the hard-working volunteers at SAEP. We look forward to continued partnership with ADT in supporting South Africa's underprivileged communities!

I have had many days in Hope Scholars and I can teach other people what I have learned and all the things we have done. My teacher asks me, "What have you eaten? Why are you so respectful?" And I say nothing have I eaten. I just joined Hope Scholars. The teacher says that before I was not doing school work like I do now. She says I am also better to others. For this I am glad to be in Hope Scholars.
