On Saturday the 17th October, the Hope Scholars and Arts Outreach Programme’s learners were invited to an excursion of Table Mountain and Signal Hill. The outing was initiated by Kate Crane Briggs of Culture Connect. Around 50 learners took part in the outing. The beautiful weather on the chosen day allowed for a great time for the learners  to explore Cape Town from “On top of the world” as one learner wrote on a thank you letter directed to the SAEP team that facilitated the outing.

The Table Mountain outing was followed by a picnic on top of Signal Hill. The Cape weather played along with sunny cloudless skies being the order of the day. The trip was concluded with a visit to a “Chisanyama” ( braaid meat – roadside stand ) in Philippi where the participants enjoyed a menu of braai’d meat amongst other things.

The day was a wonderful educational and entertaining experience for both the learners and the facilitators.

A big thank you to Kate and Culture Connect for their  kindness and thoughtfulness in making this event a possibility and a success.
