The South African Education and Environment Project (SAEP) is a nonprofit organisation working with children and youth at key points in their education, including pre-school, primary, high school, post matric and tertiary.

SAEP seeks to appoint a Fundraising Coordinator to be based in Mowbray, Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and implementation of institutional fundraising to meet target
    • Prospect research
    • Write proposals
    • Complete application forms
    • Focus on US-based organisations
  • Oversight and implementation of individual giving programme
    • Online and mailshots
    • Focus on US-based individuals
  • Stewardship of donors
    • Report-writing in collaboration with programmes
    • Oversight of S18A and thank-you letters
  • Marketing
    • Oversight of website and social media
    • Compilation of annual report and other marketing material
    • Identifying other marketing opportunities
  • Planning and administration
    • Compilation and implementation of the annual work plan
    • Quarterly reports
    • Fundraising projections for the board
    • Ensuring that Salesforce is up to date
    • Record-keeping
  • Coordination of fundraising department

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification, valid driver’s licence
  • Minimum five to eight years in a similar role
  • Proposal and report writing skills, computer literacy, strong numeracy and budget control skills, problem solving
  • Ability to work under pressure, effective time management skills, strong work ethic, attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, communication and negotiation skills
  • High level of computer literacy, sound proposal- and report-writing skills, extensive knowledge of the NGO sector and particularly the fundraising sector
  • Experience in fundraising, communications
