Sandiso was an SAEP bridging year student in 2010 and went on to study sports management and then marketing. Since then he has spent a great deal of time in our offices, studying, helping out and befriending staff and students. We are deeply saddened that someone with so much potential, who was making his way in the world against all odds, was cut down just as he was beginning to provide for his family. Sandiso was tragically killed in an attack in Gugulethu just before Christmas last year.

Sandiso’s mentor Ryan has started a BackaBuddy campaign that is close to all of our hearts. Sandiso’s biggest dream was to be able to provide his family with a ‘real home with a real address’. We want to realise his dream in his honour. To support this cause please go to the BackaBuddy campaign here:

His family’s current home is an informal dwelling with a leaking roof and no running water…

Sandiso did the Cape Town Cycle Tour with Ryan, and much like everything in his life he tackled it with determination and a positive attitude… even though he fell 3 times!

Sandiso… you are missed

There will also be an event in Sandiso’s honour on Human Right’s Day (21st March). Learn more here:
